Cork oak, a species of tree from which cork is obtained, is found mainly in southern Europe, mostly in Portugal, but also in Spain, Italy or France. This is an unusual plant that is distinguished by its characteristic thick and wrinkled bark. It is this tissue that is the source of the cork. Its acquisition is done by barking the trunk and thicker branches of the tree so that in the future it can be used again for harvesting. Thanks to the appropriate technique used by qualified people, cork oak grows without any damage to its health.
