Where does natural cork come from?

Natural cork comes from the bark of the cork oak (Quercus suber), which is found mainly in the Mediterranean, in countries such as Portugal, Spain, Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. The properties of natural cork, such as lightness, flexibility and water resistance, make it a popular material for the production of cork bottle stoppers, coasters for hot dishes, as well as acoustic and thermal insulation. The process of obtaining natural cork from a tree is ecological and does not adversely affect its growth or health.

Thermal insulation

Cork cells, due to their layered arrangement and air filling, are impermeable to liquids and gases. The cork on the wall perfectly keeps the room warm.

Antiallergic

Unlike other materials, natural cork does not absorb dust particles, which is why self-adhesive wall cork can be used as wallpaper in homes where people with allergies live.

Lightness

The construction of cork makes it very light and flexible. This feature makes it easy to assemble, cut and use as a base wherever there are any irregularities.
